Fast track protocol for total hip and knee arthroplasty
The Large Joints Clinic of the Athens Medical Center, under the direction of Dr. Ioannis Tsarouchas, continues to pioneer by combining minimally invasive techniques for the total hip replacement (ASI) and knee (MIS) with a short hospitalization and rehabilitation protocol (FASTTRACK).

Taking advantage of the advantages offered by the ASI techniques and MIS (minimal surgical trauma, minimal post-operative pain, reduced blood loss, rapid recovery) the hospital stay is significantly reduced. The majority of patients can be safely discharged from the hospital the next day or the day after surgery. The rehabilitation program continues at home under the guidance of the medical team with ease and safety. Return to daily activities is quick without the need for long sick leave or costly rehabilitation resources.
The ASI and MIS techniques in combination with the FAST TRACK protocol have been applied for several years in the Large Joint Clinic with spectacular results. Already more than 2000 patients have benefited from their advantages.
