Reference centre for total hip arthroplasty with the ASI method

This Clinic of the Athens Medical Center is the only reference center in Greece

The Athens Medical Center's Large Joints Clinic, headed by Dr. Ioannis Tsarouchas, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Director of the Athens Medical Center's Large Joints Clinic, continues the training process for orthopaedic surgeons from Greece and abroad in the ASI-Anterior Supine Intermuscular Method for hip arthroplasty.

This Clinic of the Athens Medical Center is the only reference center in Greece and one of the few in Europe for training in this technique. Its selection has come as a result of a thorough evaluation by representatives of Zimmer Biomet, based on the way the technique is applied by the surgical team and the adequacy of the hospital's infrastructure, in conjunction with the large number of successful interventions that have already been performed.

Already since the beginning of the programme, in February 2019, more than 30 visiting orthopaedic surgeons have been hosted. All participating trainees successfully completed the programme and were completely satisfied with the level of knowledge they gained.

Total Hip Replacement procedures require specialization, modern hospital equipment and cooperation between medical specialties, which make up the Interdisciplinary Team. The daily update on scientific developments, combined with the continuous investments of the Athens Medical Group in biomedical equipment, allows us to have the latest state-of-the-art technology at our disposal in order to be able to offer the most personalized, harmless and minimally invasive solution for each case, no matter how complex it may be.

It is important to realise that even in the difficult period we are experiencing, we should never neglect our health. In the Athens Medical Group, apart from providing high quality health services, the top priority remains the safety of patients, staff and doctors. To this end, the strict measures and protocols for admission and stay that have been established are fully implemented, including mandatory molecular testing for the virus of all patients and their companions.
