The Large Joints Clinic of the Athens Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Ioannis Tsarouchas is considered one of the most pioneers in hip surgery. Its most recent distinction is its selection as the only reference centre in Greece and one of the few in Europe for training in the ASI technique, coinciding with the completion of 3000 hip replacements with this method.
Specifically, after a thorough audit and evaluation by representatives of the company Room Biomet as to the way the technique is applied by our surgical team and the adequacy of our hospital's infrastructure, in connection with the large number of successful operations that have already been performed, our clinic was certified as a model training centre for hip surgeons in ASI method. The trainee doctors have the opportunity to attend ASI procedures and learn about the special protocols applied in our clinic for patients undergoing hip arthroplasty.
Already since February 2019, the clinic and our hospital have hosted more than 50 orthopaedic visitors from Greece and abroad. All participating trainees successfully completed the programme and were completely satisfied with the level of knowledge they acquired.
