If you cannot come in person straight away, you can send your imaging electronically — X-rays, MRI or CT — together with a brief history. You will receive an initial assessment of whether surgery is needed, what the alternatives are and what recovery involves, so that you can organise your trip once and properly.

Previous tests and medical reports, a list of medications, a history of previous operations on the same joint and, if available, the operative note with the details of the implants that were used. The more complete the picture, the more meaningful the first discussion.

A fracture after a fall, inability to bear weight on the leg, sudden swelling with fever or a wound that is discharging after recent surgery cannot wait for an appointment. Go to an emergency department immediately and let us know.
